What is the gold price in Ethiopia today?

The 24 karat figure at the top of this page is the NBE price for one gram of 24 karat gold in Ethiopian birr. 24 karat is the purest grade NBE quotes, at 99.96 percent, and the lower karats are priced below it in proportion to their purity.Link to this section

Why is the birr gold price different from the official dollar rate?

It is not. NBE converts its dollar gold price into birr using its own official buying rate for the same day, so dividing the birr price by the dollar price returns that official rate rather than a separate market premium. It is the conversion basis, not a signal about the birr.Link to this section
